  1. Common gynaecological complaint in which
  2. patches of endometrium (the lining of the
  3. womb) are found outside the uterus. This
  4. ectopic (abnormally positioned) tissue is
  5. present most often in the ovaries, although
  6. it may invade any pelvic or abdominal site,
  7. as well as the vagina and rectum.
  8. Endometriosis may be treated with analgesics,
  9. hormone preparations, or surgery.
  10.
